Lois Eliason

Lois M. Eliason attended The University of California, Irvine, receiving bachelor’s degrees in English Literature and Art History, and a minor in Studio Art. She continued her education at Rutgers University, where she received a Ph.D. in Art History.

Over the course of the pandemic, Lois began to explore the medium of collage to tap into the isolation, loneliness, and disconnection that came with quarantine. Through cutting, arranging, and reconfiguring imagery from a variety of sources (including a copy of J.G. Heck’s The Complete Encyclopedia of Illustration, first published in 1851), collage became a way to explore more deeply the human connection to nature, history, material culture, and science.
